For those group members who would like to tap into the Aggie network to land their next job, you have come to the right place. Aggies do not lie, cheat, or steal, or tolerate others who do; and we genuinely want to help our fellow Ags in their career transitions wherever we can. There are 3 steps that we recommend you take to make best use of the best alumni networking group in the country:

1. Join the right online communities. This is a great way to be connected to your Aggie network. We at the Dallas Aggie Business Round Table recommend the following groups:

• aggieroundtable.com - for business development and Ags in Transition

• dallasaggies.org - official TAMU Dallas alumni website
  
• linkedin.com - create your professional profile; join the linkedin.com group "aggieroundtable".
  

• Decide the ideal position for you, company size, industry, etc. You must have a goal or you will never reach it.
  
• Prepare a draft resume designed for the ideal position; there are many websites on the web that have sample formats.
  
• Allow other Ags to review your resume and offer input; many members of the Round Table are managers themselves and can offer great insight for the effectiveness of your resume.
  
• Practice talking about yourself. Don't be shy - if you want someone to know you, you will have to let it out. Be ready for a 30 second elevator speech and a 2 minute "tell me about yourself" introduction. This is a skill that we recommend you practice at every opportunity; it can take many attempts to get a good formula for success.
  

• Attend the Wednesday morning Aggie Business Round Table meetings. This group is dedicated to professional networking and really gets down to the business of understanding the needs of fellow attendees.
  
• Send your resume and job search goal to any Aggie Business Round Table officer, and we will make sure to route it to an appropriate set of Aggie alumni recruiters.
  
• Collect and distribute business cards. A good professional networking business card can be a cheap but effective tool for making a good first impression. Check out vistaprint.com for inexpensive cards you can hand out.
  
• Contribute to the network. The more you give to the group, the more you will receive. Try to help other Ags in connecting them with people you know. You'll find that we will all be more accommodating with reciprocation.
